1. Asymptotic Weighted-Periodicity of the Impulsive Parabolic Equation with Time Delay

The main aim of this paper is to investigate the effects
of the impulse and time delay on a type of parabolic equations. In
view of the characteristics of the equation, a particular
iteration scheme is adopted. The results show that Under certain
conditions on the coefficients of the equation and the impulse,
the solution oscillates in a particular manner---called
``asymptotic weighted-periodicity".

This paper considers a kind of strongly coupled cross
diffusion parabolic system, which can be used as the
multi-dimensional {\it Lyumkis} energy transport model in
semiconductor science. The global existence and large time
behavior are obtained for smooth solution to the initial boundary
value problem. When the initial data are a small perturbation of
an isothermal stationary solution, the smooth solution of the
problem under the insulating boundary condition, converges to that
stationary solution exponentially fast as time goes to infinity.

along some trajectories are formulated. Some first and
second order optimality conditions for the class of D.C. optimization
problems are given.

The Navier-Stokes-$\alpha$ equations subject to the
periodic boundary conditions are considered. Analyticity in time
for a class of solutions taking values in a Gevrey class of
functions is proven. Exponential decay of the spatial Fourier
spectrum for the analytic solutions and the lower bounds on the
rate defined by the exponential decay are also obtained.

In this paper, two auxiliary functions for global
optimization are proposed. These two auxiliary functions possess
all characters of tunnelling functions and filled functions under
certain general assumptions. Thus, they can be considered as the
unification of filled function and tunnelling function. Moreover,
the process of tunneling or filling for global optimization can be
unified as the minimization of such auxiliary functions. Result of
numerical experiments shows that such two auxiliary functions are
effective.

In an anonymous secret sharing scheme the secret can be
reconstructed without knowledge of which participants hold which
shares. In this paper some constructions of anonymous secret
sharing schemes with 2 thresholds by using combinatorial designs
are given. Let $v(t,w,q)$ denote the minimum size of the set of
shares of a perfect anonymous $(t,w)$ threshold secret sharing
scheme with $q$ secrets. In this paper we prove that
$v(t,w,q)=\Theta(q)$ if $t$ and $w$ are fixed and that the lower
bound of the size of the set of shares in [4] is not optimal under
certain condition.

We consider several synchronous and asynchronous
multisplitting iteration schemes for solving a class of
nonlinear complementarity problems with the system matrix being an $H-$matrix.
We establish the convergence theorems for the schemes. The
numerical experiments show that the schemes are efficient for
solving the class of nonlinear complementarity problems.

In this note, we prove that the efficient solution set
for a vector optimization problem with a continuous, star
cone-quasiconvex objective mapping is connected under the
assumption that the ordering cone is a $D$-cone. A $D$-cone
includes any closed convex pointed cones in a normed space which
admits strictly positive continuous linear functionals.

This paper is concerned with time decay rates
for weak solutions to a class system of
isotropic incompressible non-Newtonian fluid motion in
$\R^n$. With the use of the spectral decomposition
methods of Stokes operator, the optimal decay estimates of weak
solutions in L${^2}$ norm are derived under the different
conditions on the initial velocity. Moreover, the error
estimates of the difference between non-Newtonian flow and
Navier-Stokes flow are also investigated.

It is useful to know the maximum number of clear
two-factor interactions in a $2^{m-(m-k)}_{\rm III}$ design. This
paper provides a method to construct a $2^{m-(m-k)}_{\rm III}$
design with the maximum number of clear two-factor interactions.
And it is proved that the resulting designs have more clear
two-factor interactions than those constructed by Tang et
al.$^{[6]}$. Moreover, the designs constructed are shown to have
concise grid representations.

There are six types of triangles: undirected triangle,
cyclic triangle, transitive triangle, mixed-1 triangle, mixed-2
triangle and mixed-3 triangle. The triangle-decompositions for the
six types of triangles have already been solved. For the first
three types of triangles, their large sets have already been
solved, and their overlarge sets have been investigated. In this
paper, we establish the spectrum of $LT_i(v,\lambda)$, $OLT_i(v)
(i=1,2)$, and give the existence of $LT_3(v,\lambda)$ and
$OLT_3(v,\lambda)$ with $\lambda$ even.

In this paper, we study structure-preserving algorithms
for dynamical systems defined by ordinary differential equations
in $R^n$. The equations are assumed to be of the form
$\dot{y}=A(y)+D(y)+R(y)$, where $A(y)$ is the conservative part
subject to $\langle A(y), y\rangle=0$; $D(y)$
is the damping part or the part describing the coexistence of damping and
expanding; $R(y)$ reflects strange phenomenon of the system. It
is shown that the numerical solutions generated by the symplectic
Runge-Kutta(SRK) methods with $b_{i}>0\;(\;i=1,\cdots,s)$ have
long-time approximations to the exact ones, and these methods can
describe the structural properties of the quadratic energy for
these systems. Some numerical experiments and backward error
analysis
also show that these methods are better than other methods
including the general algebraically stable
Runge-Kutta(RK)methods.

This work is concerned with the asymptotic behavior of systems of parabolic equations arising from null-recurrent switching diffusions, which are diffusion processes modulated by continuous-time Markov chains. A sufficient condition for null recurrence is presented. Moreover, convergence rate of the solutions of systems of homogeneous parabolic equations under suitable conditions is established. Then a case study on verifying one of the conditions proposed is provided with the use of a two-state Markov chain. To verify the condition, boundary value problems (BVPs) for parabolic systems are treated, which are not the usual two-point BVP type. An extra condition in the interior is needed resulting in jump discontinuity of the derivative of the corresponding solution.

In this paper, we present a random graph model with spatial reuse for a mobile ad hoc network (MANET) based on the dynamic source routing protocol. Many important performance parameters of the MANET are obtained, such as the average flooding distance (AFD), the probability generating function of the flooding distance, and the probability of a flooding route to be symmetric. Compared with the random graph model without spatial reuse, this model is much more effective because it has a smaller value of AFD and a larger probability for finding a symmetric valid route.

For a coupled system of multiplayer dynamics of fluids in porous media, the characteristic finite element domain decomposition procedures applicable to parallel arithmetic are put forward. Techniques such as calculus of variations, domain decomposition, characteristic method, negative norm estimate, energy method and the theory of prior estimates are adopted. Optimal order estimates in L2 norm are derived for the error in the approximate solution.

An efficient method based on the projection theorem, the generalized singular value decomposition and the canonical correlation decomposition is presented to find the least-squares solution with the minimumnorm for the matrix equation ATXB+BTXTA = D. Analytical solution to the matrix equation is also derived. Furthermore, we apply this result to determine the least-squares symmetric and sub-antisymmetric solution of the matrix equation CTXC = D with minimum-norm. Finally, some numerical results are reported to support the theories established in this paper.

In addition, we apply our existence theorems to a class of nonlinear periodic boundary value problems with a singularity at the origin. Our proofs are based on a fixed point theorem in cones. Our results improve some recent results in the literatures.

In this paper, we use Daubechies scaling functions as test functions for the Galerkin method, and discuss Wavelet-Galerkin solutions for the Hamilton-Jacobi equations. It can be proved that the schemes are TVD schemes. Numerical tests indicate that the schemes are suitable for the Hamilton-Jacobi equations. Furthermore, they have high-order accuracy in smooth regions and good resolution of singularities.

In this paper, we investigate a class of Hamiltonian systems arising in nonlinear composite media. By detailed analysis and computation we obtain a decaying estimates on the semigroup and prove the orbital instability of two families of explicit solitary wave solutions (slow family in anisotropic case and solitary waves in isotropic case), which theoretically verify the related guess and numerical results.

In this paper we propose a modification of the Landweber iteration termed frozen Landweber iteration for nonlinear ill-posed problems. A convergence analysis for this iteration is presented. The numerical performance of this frozen Landweber iteration for a nonlinear Hammerstein integral equation is compared with that of the Landweber iteration. We obtain a shorter running time of the frozen Landweber iteration based on the same convergence accuracy.

In this paper, the nonlinear minimax problems are discussed. By means of the Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP), a new descent algorithm for solving the problems is presented. At each iteration of the proposed algorithm, a main search direction is obtained by solving a Quadratic Programming (QP) which always has a solution. In order to avoid the Maratos effect, a correction direction is obtained by updating the main direction with a simple explicit formula. Under mild conditions without the strict complementarity, the global and superlinear convergence of the algorithm can be obtained. Finally, some numerical experiments are reported.

We present two classes of results. In the first one, we rely on a fixed point theorem for contraction multivalued maps due to Covitz and Nadler, and for the second one, we use Schaefer’s fixed point theorem combined with lower semi-continuous multivalued operators with decomposable values under weaker conditions.

In this paper, we propose a model in studying soft ferromagnetic films, which is readily accessible experimentally. By using penalty approximation and compensated compactness, we prove that the dynamical equation in thin film has a local weak solution. Moreover, the corresponding linear equation is also dealt with in great detail.

A vertex distinguishing equitable total coloring of graph G is a proper total coloring of graph G such that any two distinct vertices’ coloring sets are not identical and the difference of the elements colored by any two colors is not more than 1. In this paper we shall give vertex distinguishing equitable total chromatic number of join graphs PnPn,CnCn and prove that they satisfy conjecture 3, namely, the chromatic numbers of vertex distinguishing total and vertex distinguishing equitable total are the same for join graphs PnPn and CnCn.

This paper is devoted to the goodness-of-fit test for the general autoregressive models in time series. By averaging for the weighted residuals, we construct a score type test which is asymptotically standard chi-squared under the null and has some desirable power properties under the alternatives. Specifically, the test is sensitive to alternatives and can detect the alternatives approaching, along a direction, the null at a rate that is arbitrarily close to n-1/2. Furthermore, when the alternatives are not directional, we construct asymptotically distribution-free maximin tests for a large class of alternatives. The performance of the tests is evaluated through simulation studies.
